Lucid Motor’s first car, the Lucid Air, is set to launch on September 9, 2020, in an online reveal. Customer deliveries of the Lucid Air will begin in 2021.
On April 3, 2019, Lucid Motors confirmed that it had closed its previously announced $1bn+ (USD) investment from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (“PIF”).
According to the makers, the Lucid Air continues to set new benchmarks. And — with a charging rate as fast as 20 miles per minute — it is also the fastest charging electric vehicle ever offered. In real-world terms, this means up to 300 miles of range in just 20 minutes.
The makers have achieved this charging speed with an ultra-high 900V+ electrical architecture, custom lithium-ion battery cells, a highly sophisticated battery and thermal management system, and exceptional powertrain efficiency as per information posted on their website.
Lucid Air owners who take U.S. delivery will receive three years of complimentary* charging at Electrify America’s extensive nationwide network of ultrafast charging stations that currently boasts 2,000+ individual chargers — 150kW through 350kW.
Lucid Air’s app and navigation system can easily locate Electrify America locations across the country and see real-time charger availability.
Lucid Motor’s first car, the Lucid Air, features luxurious interior space in a mid-size exterior footprint. According to the makers, the Lucid Air will be capable of over 500 miles (800 km) of range and 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds.
Customer deliveries of the Lucid Air, which will be produced at Lucid’s new factory in Casa Grande, Arizona, will begin in early 2021.
Reservations for Lucid Air are open to the United States, Canada, and select European and Middle Eastern countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE). The fully refundable deposit for Canada is CAD 1,300.
The production version of the Lucid Air will debut in an online reveal on September 9, 2020. In addition to the vehicle’s final interior and exterior designs, new details about production specifications, available configurations, and pricing information will also be shared.
(*Complimentary charging sessions up to 100% state of charge, after which idle fees may apply. Charging plan enrollment required)
