On Friday, Ontario is reporting 158 new COVID-19 infections, continuing the trend of an uptick in infections, especially in the Peel Region and Toronto.
“Ontario is reporting 158 cases of #COVID19 as the province processed nearly 29,000 tests. Toronto is reporting 49 new cases, with 44 in Peel, 21 in Ottawa and 16 in York Region“, the Health Minister, Christine Elliot, stated in her tweet today.
Social media commentators have been expressing concerns with the rising numbers in the Peel Region, specifically the city of Brampton which is registering the majority of cases in Peel.

Across the globe, the US (+42,095), Brazil (+31,199) and India continue to see an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. Pakistan reported 513 new cases yesterday compared to its neighbour India where 90,600 new cases were registered. A country with a population similar to India is China, where the first cases of the virus were discovered, reported 10 new cases yesterday.
