On Saturday, Ontario is reporting 169 new COVID-19 infections, continuing the trend of an alarming uptick in infections, especially in the Peel Region of the province. It is the highest number of new cases reported since the end of July and new infections have been steadily rising in the province since the middle of August.
“Ontario is reporting 169 cases of #COVID19 as the province processed over 28,600 tests. Peel is reporting 46 new cases, with 42 in Toronto, 30 in Ottawa and 19 in York Region“, the Health Minister, Christine Elliot, stated in her tweet today.
Social media commentators have been expressing concerns with the rising numbers in the Peel Region, specifically the city of Brampton which is registering the majority of cases in Peel. People are suggesting strict measures and suggesting, “Time to put Peel back into Stage 2”.

I am told from Peel Public Health these relate to international travel, a workplace outbreak and social gatherings. Please everyone be extra cautious and follow the advice of public health.”

In that case, consider the number reported by the Public Health Unit to be the most up to date
