On Saturday, Ontario is reporting 232 new COVID-19 infections, continuing the trend of an uptick in infections, especially in the Peel Region and Toronto. The highest number of cases were reported in Toronto (77), Peel Region (62), and Ottawa (27).
Provincial health officials are reporting 232 new cases of the virus today, up from the 213 reported on Friday and 170 confirmed on Thursday.

According to Peel Public Health, Brampton registered 38, Caledon 4 and Mississauga 9 new cases on September 12, 2020.
Social media commentators have been expressing concerns with the rising numbers in the Peel Region, specifically the city of Brampton which is registering the majority of cases in Peel.
If there is a discrepancy between numbers reported by Public Health Ontario and those reported publicly by a Public Health Unit, it is because the Public Health Unit hasn’t yet updated their numbers in iPHIS. In that case, consider the number reported by the Public Health Unit to be the most up to date
Across the globe, the US (+46,600 new cases), Brazil (+44,215 new cases) and India continue to see an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. Pakistan reported 516 new cases yesterday compared to its neighbour India where 97,654 new cases were registered. A country with a population similar to India is China, where the first cases of the virus were discovered, reported 15 new cases yesterday.
