June 29, 2023 | MainstreamCanadian – This Eid Al Adha, Mississauga hosted the world renowned Qari (Qur’an Reciter), Mishary Alafasy, for Eid Ul Adha prayers, where an event for an expected gathering of 20,000 people was organized outdoors.
This was a collaborative initiative that was organized by Penny Appeal and Muslim Neighbour Nexus.
Alafasy took to Twitter and shared visuals from the Eid Al Adha prayers in Mississauga. He has over 15 million followers on Twitter.
Originally from the State of Kuwait, Mishari bin Rashed Alafasy is a globally renowned Qari, Preacher, and Nasheed artist. He studied in the Islamic University of Madinah’s College of Qur’an, and has released Nasheed albums.
The Eid Al Adha prayer event took place at the Churchill Meadows Community Centre and Mattamy Sports Park on Ninth Line in Mississauga, Ontario and further events are planned for Eid over the Canada Day long weekend.
Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is the second and the largest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam (the other being Eid al-Fitr which marks the conclusion of the month of fasting, the Ramadan).
