In Ontario’s latest epidemiologic summary, the province recorded 102 new cases of the virus, and out of those 102 new cases, in Peel Region, Mississauga reported NO NEW COVID-19 case today.
Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie shared the news today via her social media account and stated, “Today, Mississauga is reporting ZERO new COVID-19 cases. Yes, you heard me right??While this is great news and I’d love to see this every day, we know this is not realistic. The pandemic is not over. We need to be vigilant and continue to practice COVID-19 prevention.”
Yesterday, Mayor Crombie had reported 1 new case of COVID-19 in Mississauga and had tweeted, “We are in good shape to move into Stage 3 shortly. We must continue to practice COVID prevention to reduce the severity of a second wave this fall.”
Mayor Bonnie Crombie has been very active not only on mainstream media but also on her social media accounts, keeping the community informed in regards to the pandemic, safety precautions and latest measures the city has been taking for its residents. She has hosted virtual townhalls as well during the pandemic, with relevant city officials to answer live questions from the residents.
The Mississauga City Council recently approved the Corporate and the Financial Pillar Recovery Plans, two of the four pillars outlined in the City’s overall COVID-19 Recovery Framework.
“Mississauga’s COVID-19 recovery plan is thoughtful, thorough, inclusive, and identifies the short and long-term actions we need to take to help our City rebound from this crisis while preventing a second wave. Residents and businesses have all felt the impacts of the pandemic over the last five months, and it’s time for us to move forward,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “Recovery won’t happen overnight, and I ask that residents and businesses be patient as we work to adjust to our new normal. Our strengths as a world-class city when it comes to recovery and financial planning, innovation in technology and our willingness to adapt will be vital in our efforts to successfully recover from this crisis. Mississauga is strong, ready and prepared to overcome any challenges before us.”, further stated Mayor Crombie.
