May 4, 2023 – Mississauga, Canada | MainstreamCanadian.ca – Sean Fraser, The Federal Minister for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship issued updates today in regards to the TRV processing times for applicants from Pakistan.
The Minister said, “Visa processing times are not 802 days for new applications. Currently, a complete TRV application from Pakistan will be processed in 60 days, and we expect to hit 30 days in the near future.”
The Minister Tweeted further and said, “The website shows 802 days because we’re processing older applications from when borders were closed due to the pandemic. We’ve reduced the backlog for Pakistani TRVs significantly, from 55K to less than 15K.“
The Federal Minister added further, “We’re also investing in a new processing centre in Islamabad to boost processing & interview capacity in the Indo-Pac region.“
Earlier in the day, Mississauga MP, Iqra Khalid released a statement via her Twitter account stating, “Today we met with the Immigration Minister’s office to raise issues with visa processing times for Pakistan. To date, IRCC has reduced the backlog of Pakistani TRVs by 2/3, and the Minister has reaffirmed Canada’s intent to invest in a new processing centre in Islamabad.
