(NC) This year has certainly proven to be an unconventional one – and the same can be said about this season’s emerging beauty trends.
Here are some tips and tricks from Hung Vanngo, world-renowned Canadian makeup artist, to stay on trend with a look that can only be described as a “mash-up of classic meets bold.”
- The eyes have it. “Protective face masks have absolutely had an influence on beauty looks this year,” says Vanngo, who is known for his compelling makeup looks on Hollywood’s A-listers. “This season it’s all about the eyes, with bright, bold-coloured cosmetics and exaggerated geometric angles dominating the beauty landscape.”
Tip: For that dramatic look, extend coloured gel liner and eye shadows well outside the bounds of the lash lines.
Makeup type: Bold - Dreamy, creamy cheeks. Popular in the ’70s, cream blushes in bright pink hues are making a big comeback. “Bright, high-shine cheekbones are hotter than ever this season, and really work to give the appearance of healthy, glowing skin,” says Vanngo, the first makeup artist to receive a Canadian Arts and Fashion Award.
Tip: Use your fingers to apply the Quo Beauty Featherweight Cream Blush in Angelic onto the apples of the cheeks in a circular fashion. Lightly blend the blush to the temples using a stroking technique.
Makeup type: Classic - Lip colour that sticks. Even before mask wearing became “a thing,” lips that stick were destined to be on the fall 2020 beauty scene. This season, we’re seeing a huge range of lip looks – from rich reds to nonexistent nudes.
Tip: To lock your lip colour in place, start off by using a lip brush to apply a moisturizer to the lips. Wait a couple of minutes to allow the product to absorb and then apply a good liquid lipstick using the same brush and blot with a tissue.
