“Churails“ (witches) is the first original from Zindagi and will start streaming on ZEE5 from August 11.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEE) recently brought back Pakistani Urdu dramas, on ZEE5, which it previously used to broadcast on its channel Zindagi.
In a statement released on July 16, the company announced the return of its much-loved content brand Zindagi, on its digital entertainment platform, ZEE5. Zindagi’s Urdu content has been highly appreciated by audiences for its realistic appeal, superlative character portrayals, captivating performances and its ability to satiate the evolving content preferences of the viewers.
And now, on Eid Al Adha day, ZEE5 has released the trailer of an upcoming Pakistani web series, titled “Churails”, featuring renowned Pakistani actresses like Sarwat Gilani, Mehar Bano, Yasra Rizvi, Nimra Bucha. “Churails“ is the first Pakistani original from Zindagi, and will start streaming on ZEE5 from August 11.
Set in Karachi, the series revolves around four young women who form a secret detective agency under the guise of a fashion store named ‘Halal Designs’ with the purpose of finding and exposing unfaithful husbands amongst Karachi’s elite.

Directed by critically-acclaimed Asim Abbasi, the web-series aims to challenge the hypocrisy of patriarchal societies that curtail women and their rights. In a tweet today, Abbasi wrote, “Justice has a new face. It’s female. And it ain’t afraid anymore“.

Indian Film director Anurag Kashyap has it on his watchlist as soon as he found out “Churails” was Abbasi’s project, “Had no clue this was directed by @IllicitusProduc .. adding to my watchlist. His first film “Cake” was such a delight”.
The series will narrate the story of four self-proclaimed “Churails”, who come together to open a covert detective agency to expose cheating husbands amongst the city’s elite.
ZEE5 started reviving Pakistani Urdu content, which for some reason it categorizes as “Hindi”, to its content line-up, which it began adding for a couple of months. While the collection of Urdu shows two months back was limited, that included ‘Aunn Zara’, ‘Shehr-e-Zaat’, ‘Noorpur ki Rani’, ‘Main Abdul Qadir Hoon’, ‘Mastana Mahi’, but in the month of July, Zee5 added more Urdu content to its line up. On July 23, ZEE5 premiered on its platform, Pakistan’s hit TV serial Suno Chanda, which first aired in Pakistan during Ramadan 2018 (season 1). We have covered in detail that story over here.
“Churails“ is going to premiere on ZEE5 on August 11 with all the episodes releasing on the same day, get set for binge-watching. The web-series is rated U/A.
