The trailer of “Sadak 2” was released to a global audience today, which for various reasons has ended up being voted down, and has ended up being the most disliked trailer on Youtube with 4.5 million dislikes, and still counting.
The trailer included had a catchy song and melody, for a song titled “Ishq Kamal”, which now seems to have triggered another discussion.
The “Sadak 2” song is apparently based on Sufi poet Bulleh Shah’s kalam and has been sung by various folk singers in Pakistan including Hina Nasrullah.
Hina Nasrullah is a Pakistani Sufi singer who started her career, at a very young age, in a popular PTV (Pakistan Television) children’s music program “Aangan Aangan Taray”. She has since been a familiar face on many PTV programmes where her forte has been in performing naats, national song and sufiana kalam with a focus on kalam-e-Iqbal.
She had also joined Coke Studio, Season 10, for her debut performance.
Well, while we were discussing Hina Nasrullah, we came across another tweet regarding the same song from the “Sadak 2” trailer, with another melodious Pakistani connection.
This time, there’s a musician from Pakistan, who has tweeted to Fox Star and wrote, “@foxstarhindi What do we do about this. Copied from a song that I produced in Pakistan and launched in 2011. Let’s talk guys.”
The musician is Shezan Saleem, and said when he listened to this song in “Sadak 2” trailer, he immediately recognized the melody and music.
Here’s the video Shezan Saleem where he compares both the melodies.
The musician tweeted further:
“Sadak 2” will release on August 28, 2020, on a digital streaming platform, and will see Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt revive the nostalgia of the 1991 hit “Sadak”. This time, after nearly 30 years, they will be joined by Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur, produced and directed by Mahesh Bhatt.
