Top Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has been questioned by India’s narcotics agency in an escalating drugs probe that surfaced after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput earlier this year.
Deepika Padukone, 34, arrived at the Narcotics Control Board’s (NCB) office in Mumbai on Saturday after receiving a summons earlier this week. She was on a shooting stint in the western beach resort of Goa.
As per Indian media reports, Deepika was quizzed for more than four hours, and as per another report in Times Now, Deepika Padukone admitted to the 2017 ‘drug chats’ with her manager, Karishma Prakash, however, there was no confirmation on whether she used drugs.
Also, Deepika was interrogated by a 5-member NCB panel, and during the interrogation, she was asked to keep her phone aside. Other Bollywood stars being probed are Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, and they allegedly denied the consumption of drugs. However, according to an online media portal Shraddha admitted to attending Sushant Singh Rajput’s party at his farmhouse.
Indian media reports that alleged chats between Deepika Padukone and Karishma Prakash from October 2017 have become a talking point where the actor asked for ‘maal’ and ‘hash’. In the latest revelation, it emerged that they were a part of a group called ‘DP+Ka+KWAN’, where Deepika Padukone was the admin. The group was formed by Jaya Saha and its admins were Deepika Padukone and Karishma Prakash.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who has also been a target of TV channels and social media users since Rajput’s death, on Friday said in a statement that allegations of narcotics being consumed at a party hosted by him in July last year at his residence were “false and baseless”.
Johar’s response came after an old video from a star-studded party at his residence surfaced on social media.
While the investigation into Shushant Singh Rajput’s death is continuing, the saga has morphed into a probe by authorities into drug scandals within Bollywood.
